What Will Your Legacy Be?
Sherland and Barbara Hamilton are no strangers to Arkansas State University—even though they live in Rector, Ark., they are in Jonesboro and at an Arkansas State event almost weekly—sometimes more. Mrs. Barbara earned her Bachelor of Science degree in English in 1962. Mr. Sherland earned his Bachelor's degree the previous year from the College of Business. He went to work with his aunt at Crockett Oil Company and Crockett Farms, where you can still find him today. The Hamiltons, along with Dr. Ruth Hawkins, initiated the restoration of the Pfeiffer house in Piggott as the central feature of the Hemingway-Pfeiffer Museum and Educational Center. Their efforts enabled Arkansas State to purchase the land and develop the educational resource through a matching funds challenge. Not only have they given of their time and resources, they have also left a bequest to Arkansas State in their will, so their good work may continue to benefit students for years to come. We at Arkansas State appreciate their generosity and applaud their dedication to making sure A-State remains a destination university.
