Mrs. Patricia H. Denny
– In Honor of Del Denny and Johnny Cash - Dyess Colony & Johnny Cash Boyhood Home Project
Patricia, born in Minnesota, moved to Oregon after graduating high school, and then to California. She worked with handicapped children for several years before becoming a snake handler. From there she became a parking officer for the Hawthorne California Police Department, where she retired after 39 years of service. Patricia and her late husband Del were both fans of country music - especially the music of Johnny Cash. They went to all of his concerts in and around Los Angeles for 30 years. Two years ago she learned about the efforts to restore the Dyess Colony and the Johnny Cash Boyhood Home and decided to include the project in her estate plan, as well as donating boxes upon boxes of collected memorabilia to be shared in the library. Patricia believes this historic area and the wonderfully talented Johnny Cash are important parts of American history and should be preserved for everyone to enjoy.
